Is that the whole film?

Is there an actual film where they explain why he can move dumpsters and cars but not police robots?

Some of the effects were cool ... but really .. the rest was pretty uninteresting.

Just my 2 cents.

Pretty damn cool. I'd like to know the rest of the story - seems like a "Hancock" that wouldn't suck.

in fact, doesn't make much sense why they'd go about giving so many warnings to the armed and dangerous dude to then just shoot the homeless guy on sight

Funny how I had the exact same thought.
That and they open fire in the very first scene and then only later say that it's ok to open fire... All made perfect sense.

I don't know. Maybe homeless guys are way more pushy about asking for money in the future?

Should have called the film "20 Seconds to Comply".

I liked the main actor, he did a good job. The CGI was fine. The police "behaviour" was the worst part. Either make them menacing in a 1984 way or smothering in a nanny-state way but keep it consistent, dammit.

. The CGI was fine par for a college kid.

Animation on the walkers were crap, bimmer wasn't lit well and reflections were poor, explosion afterwords was beyond crap. "Yeah I got a cool idea (that I stole from video games)" doesn't cut it anymore. Far from impressed.

Kinda sucked, IMO... dude evidently has telekinesis yet throws objects at the drones rather than just throwing the drones... parkour was overblown.. let me look cool while I run from nothing in particular and then sit in the same spot for a while. Reminds me of those jackasses that bolt from a stop light and leave traffic in the dust and then you wind up next to them again at the next light.

P.S. It can't be both "alternate" and "futuristic". You can't say with authority what the future will bring.

"Futuristic" doesn't necessarily mean that it's in the future, only that it has characteristics that we associate with advanced technology/design/whatever.
Among things I've heard described as futuristic lately: smart phones and cars.

So nyah.

Check out a French film called B-13, really badass movie with a lot of parkour. Made me rethink my opinion of the French, in some aspects at least.
