Clearly this is what the show needed to survive.

one of these days i'll actually watch this show
Needs more Morena Baccarin
I just recently watched the whole show and movie on Netflix online and I have to say it was one of the best shows I've ever watched. The concept and execution was really interesting and very entertaining, especially because of the well-written dialogue.

Yeah. ....except for the movie.
Which.... man I wish that had never happened.

Nothing about that, save for the music, screamed 80's. I demand my money back.
Hmmm.... Looks like they forgot Dr. Simon Tam in that intro....

Morena Baccarin needs to grow her hair long again. I fucking hate that boy cut she's got going now.

As someone who lived during the 80s and watched lots of TV during the 80s. That was nothing like an 80s intro.
That is like the crap from the mid 90s. And the special effects shown in that intro would have blown your fucking mind in the 80s.
If you wanted to make it an 80s intro they should have just had speed boats on the water, some explosions, women in bikinis, men in white pants with fluffy hair, some more explosions and way way shittier credits.
The credits in the intro alone would have been top of the line for movies in the 80s. Hell Robocop or Alien Nation didn't even have text transitions that nice.

I love Jewel. That is all.
I never watched any of the show until after renting the movie, I thought space zombies, awesome. The show was pretty cool but not really like the movie. I'd love to see new episodes though, wonder if we can geek up on the execs and get them to bring it back like they did for Futurama.
What intro goes on that long
BULLSHIT!

I think for most people it was the other way around.

Not only that, but it should be NTSC aspect ratio instead of widescreen, plus they should have reduced the quality to VHS resolution.

The principal actors have moved on to other projects. And he killed off Wash and Book in the movie... which oddly enough wasn't all that necessary to the plot.
excellent!!! firefly was a fantastic show, pity it got the axe!

There is absolutely no reason not to watch it.
A. It is well done
B. It is funny and adventurous
3. It is only 14 episodes

It's Joss Whedon. Killing characters is what he does. I'll grant that Book's death didn't serve much purpose, but killing Wash really sets up the final act. How more effectively can you bring home the message that no one is "safe" just because they're a main character. The knowledge that no one is guaranteed a pass adds a great deal of tension to the final battle.

The director asked who everyone's favorite characters were, killed them and said, "See? Proof that we won't be doing ANY more episodes." Hoping that no one would want to see anymore now that their favorites were dead.
This could have been on between A-Team and Airwolf

This is still amazing, but yeah, this is definitely and early-mid nineties intro ala Quantum Leap

One of the few shows to portray space correctly as a noiseless vacuum.
Strange everyone has always liked it so much. I have been a big Sci-Fi fan all my life, and really tried to watch the show, and couldn't get interested in it at all.

That's because the Sci-Fi elements aren't really the important parts.

It still boggles me that Firefly barely lasted one season, yet Buffy and Angel went on forever. Joss Whedon's a hack anyways. The only good things he ever did were Firefly/Serenity and Dr. Horribles Sing-Along-Blog. I'm going to go berserk when he ruins The Avengers.
Dollhouse was actually getting pretty badass once it got to the whole apocalypse thing.

I just started following Nathan Fillion on twitter, and the guy has over 500,000 followers. HALF A MILLION. The guy could start his own civil war if he'd front the money for 500,000 brown trench coats.
