Even in death, as we can see on twitter today, the joke of being Gary Coleman is what the world sees first.

What you talkin 'bout, Willis?
that guy writes like shit.
If I printed out all this shit and stacked it up it'd be taller than Coleman was.

I think it would have been funnier if he threw some jokes about Gary Coleman in there.
Quick, everyone care about Gary Coleman!

Samson: You were a biker.
Feck: Yeah, years ago. Oh, man. I ate so much pussy in those days, my beard looked like a glazed doughnut.
[John accuses Feck of having feelings for his blow-up doll, Elly]
Feck: Look, I'm not psycho. I know she's a doll. Right, Elly?
I killed a girl, it was no accident. Put a gun to the back of her head and blew her brains right out the front. I was in love.

I don't know. Not all child stars are destined to bottom-out and become has-beens. Most of them do so because of poor choices made on their part.
I feel sympathy to a certain degree, when it comes to how the media and even fans treat those they admire/adore/despise, for those in the spotlight 24/7. The amount of money they make is irrelevant, as the rich AND the poor should still be treated as human beings. ..but once those with the means to live a happy, fulfilling life begin to squander what they have, that's where I draw the line.
Literally the entire child cast of Diff'rent Strokes fell into the gap and now, with their second death, it's time to wonder when the third will come.
It's one thing to remember the good in people after they're gone, but when they're alive, where's the sentiment? I'll be expecting "Todd, As I Knew Him" somewhere down the road, I'm sure.

Of all the bad hands people have been dealt in life, of the people who I have known up close, compared to the starving in Mongolia, Gary had as about a rotten combination as anything I’d seen. I won’t give the details, but there was very much a horrifying tragedy about his life, a desperation that I think at age 16, was too big for us his classmates to comprehend or take in.

The tragedy wasn't his death.
It was that he was so short lived.

I've meet Gary Coleman 3 times in my life.
First time was at the height of Diff'rent Strokes at the long gone barber shop in the Culver Center opposite the then Lorimar (now Sony) Studios. He came in with his dad which I remember having a big ass caddy outside. He sat in the chair next to mine and said hi.
He talked about some project he wanted to work on.
Second time I ran into him was a few years after DS had ended and he had bought an arcade in Marina Del Rey which was literately the building next to the Banana Stand that you see on Arrested Development. He was behind the little counter giving out quarters. I asked him how he liked running an arcade. He said it was great.
No stress, just come in all day and play games for free when he gets bored and count the change, and lock up. He seemed really happy and excited about his new venture. Then I think he got robbed at gun point a few times or at least I remember something in the news about it. The arcade went bust in about 2 years.
Third time was maybe five years ago, probably during his Security Guard phase.
He was at the EB in the Westside Pavilion Mall. I saw him and went up to say hello. At first he seemed a little stand offish but when I told him the last time I saw him was at the arcade he got a little more talkative, I had just started working at Activision and I even joked about how he should become a beta tester and that one of the leads at the time was Jay Franke a.k.a Jake Sommers from the show California Dreams. He said, "That sound like fun, maybe I will."
I said,"Well, have a good one." and he said, "Same to you." I shook his hand and that was the last time I saw Gary Colman. Next thing I know he's on the news for jumping on the hood of a car...sad.

Che1964's post, however, was enjoyable. Nice one.
Sad story.

The incorrect usage of that word is ironic, and perfect.
Nice story though.

A close friend of mine worked in a porn store about 5 years ago that Mr. Coleman came in to. He was shopping for gimp masks and cock rings. He also tried to get her number.

Heh, exactly. Though if you read the story there's an inkling of depth to it.
