Here's an old trailer for the upcoming MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. (Even at just a bit over 3 minutes long, it still looks far better than any of the prequel movies.)

Yeh, this trailer is about a year old. A little late...

I don't know. The KotOR series was so good because of the detail work on the story and party interactions.

I just don't see how it could be faithfully translated into an MMO and still be interesting. Trade the story for a pile of fetch-quests and it'll suck.

Each class, (8 in total), has 200+ hours of single-player, fully voiced, unique story and plot.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

I love how just about all the prequel games are better than the prequel movies. My favorite prequel is definitely The Force Unleashed (as far as story goes, of course).

Good to hear. I played WoW years ago but I stopped when game progress depended on scheduling time with real people and not just playing when I felt like it. Some weeks I will have nothing going on and stay up late playing a game. Sometimes I'm hung over on a Sunday and will want nothing more than to veg out with a game. But most of the time I have too much shit to do and I can't spend an hour or two running around "LFG" when I only have an hour or two to spare.

Lots of single player content with the option for jumping into groups or playing with friends when convenient would be excellent.

Yeah, BioWare is putting a lot of effort into making it an amazing RPG first, and the standard MMO loot fest second. A very close second, but still second.

They have plot instances called Flashpoints, which are semi-cinematic events with lots of dialogue options using the wheel UI seen in Mass Effect. Those choices give Dark/Light Side points, which ultimately steer your personal story down specific paths. Basically, your goody two-shoes Jedi Knight that chooses nothing but the "heroic" options will be drastically different from a Jedi Knight that chooses to take a more chaotic and violent path towards their destiny. They even said that being a "gray" character is completely viable, and unique. You can reach max level solo without banging your head against the wall. And you and your friends can hop in and out of each other's Flashpoints at any time, assuming you've been invited to do so.

So, yes, sitting around on those hungover Sundays will be pretty awesome come Spring/Summer of 2011.

This makes me wanna play KOTOR again. They should release the PC version for free to build up hype. It's like what, 7 years old now?

Yes, I'm talking to you, Fazer who works at Bioware. Also, make Mass Effect 3 faster.
Bubba - doesn't like you either!

yeah, old, but worth drooling over again. If this game is half as good as KOTOR, it would still be worth dumping WoW for.

Someone at Bioware finally realized that enough Star Wars kids / gamers want to nail Boba that they might as well make him a hot chick and alleviate some of the confusing feelings the Fett tends to elicit.

I for one, am grateful!
