Each week State of Flux will be featuring images of different locations on planet Earth, showing change over time periods ranging from centuries to days. Some of these effects are related to climate change, some are not. Some document the effects of urbanization, or the ravage of natural hazards such as fires and floods. All show our planet in a state of flux.

What a sand-ravaged shithole.
Some of these effects are related to climate change a natural cycle the earth undergoes periodically, some are not.

"Anal gone awry"
I know I wasn't the only one to see it.
I saw Mt. Kilimanjaro with my own eyes a few years ago. The people living in the region still remembered when it was completely snow covered. It is almost entirely bare now. I cannot confirm that this is due to man-made climate change or natural cyclical changes, but I do know that we are going through major changes. And even if our influence is minute, why aggravate a situation if you don't have to? There's no reason to live to excess with everything we do. I just think of my future kids and the stage we're potentially setting for them and I think it would suck to be known as the generation that pooped on everything and screwed up everything.

August 16 was winter in 1972? August 18 was spring in 2005? Fuckin a. The world really is in flux.

The lack of precipitation in Africa is more likely caused by harmful farming techniques leading to desertification. Desertification dries up the land in an evergrowing cycle of sand > plants, wind + sand = sand^2. In other words Kili is becoming a desert.
