That sounds undrinkable. I can't stand really hoppy, bitter beer. On the bright side, Vimeo apparently works on the iPhone now!

Well if it's the alcohol equivalent of about 12 beers, then $5/beer isn't so bad.

So far this is my favorite beer. I would try Sink The Bismarck,...but I doubt I would like it. I'm more for flavor then ABV.

Silly lad. Beer doesn't come in a can. That's clearly a mislabeled soda.

I'm not sure it's intended to be completely drinkable. More likely, Brewdog is just trying to make a name for themselves.

They released the previous "World's Strongest Beer" back in November. (Though at the time, ratebeer had stronger ones listed)

The really strong beers I've sampled (Utopias, Triple Bock, etc.) have reminded me of brandy. I imagine this would be somewhat similar.

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA is the strongest beer I think I've had... It's 18% ABV. They come in regular 12oz bottles, and I can only drink one before I want to puke from the taste. Nice buzz though.

This stuff would probably be like liquor. Poor a shot of this shit into your budweiser and you're all set.

I've had Samichlaus
http://www.united-nations-of-beer.com/samichlaus-beer.html
and at 14% it tasted like beef broth. Took a while to chew through it but at least it was a properly brewed beer.

Our wee local pub has a lovely selection in its bible:

Yea, I thought the same thing after asking the bartender what there best stout was and he brought me a can. But he was right, that is among the best that I have ever gotten the chance to taste. And this bar has about 300 different beers to choose from.

Seems like they has an overstock of that soda, and the crafty bartender had an opportunity to get rid of some. No offense, but if a bar has ~300 varieties, and they hand you a can, they're fucking with you.

Wrong about what, exactly? I never said they didn't sell it in cans. I'm telling you that real beer isn't in cans, in as nice a way as I possibly could. I saw the original link, so why you linked that page is beyond me.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. His beer might be great, for all I know. It doesn't matter, as that's not the point. My initial statement was a lighthearted jab, about how real beers don't come in cans, and each subsequent statement has been the same thing. I have nothing against him, or his beer. You're too blinded by your man-crush on me to notice, so I won't blame you.

Now, scamper back to your hole and write in your journal about mean ol' IG88 and how he makes you cry, Iulus. Tootles!

Do you know of an importer that provides shipping to residential addresses? That seems to be the biggest hurdle I've come across when trying to get some of the better international brews out there. Luckily, we have some of the best beers right here in the states. I absolutely love AleSmith Speedway Stout, Stone IRS, and Kate The Great, although it's extremely hard to find anything from Portsmouth where I live, without hefty shipping charges.

I'm afraid i'm unable to help you there sorry. I'm a UK resident so don't experience a problem as it's all right here on my doorstep, as it were.

I would possibly encounter the same thing in reverse in sampling some of those really nice looking brews you've linked. I paricularly like the look of the Kate the Great. I know they say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but the bottle looks fantastic and I really trust the site. sorry couldn't be of any help.

Aluminum cans are superior to bottles. No light damage, less likelihood for oxygen contamination, etc. The only reason most great beers don't come in cans is because it's so expensive to switch to a canning operation. More and more good craft beers are being offered in cans, including beers from the following brewers:

* 21st Amendment Brewery
* Anderson Valley Brewing
* Arctic Craft Brewery
* Big Sky Brewing Company
* Blue Mountain Brewery
* Bohemian Brewing Company
* Breckenridge Brewing Co
* Buckbean Brewing Company
* Butternuts Beer & Ale
* Caldera Brewing Company
* Carolina Beer and Beverage
* Coastal Extreme Brewing Co
* Cottrell Brewing Company
* David's Ale Works
* Four Peaks Brewing
* Harvest Moon, Belt
* Heiner Brau, Covington
* High Noon Saloon, Leavenworth
* Kettlehouse Brewing Co
* Keweenaw Brewing Company

First off, you need to learn to spot sarcasm when you see it. Take Iulus along to that class, if you'd be so kind. Secondly, there are a ton of factors in the can vs. bottle debate that you're leaving out. The biggest, and most important issue is taste. The majority of beer snobs think bottles offer a purer experience, whereas aluminum leaves an aftertaste that many claim to pick up on. There's also temperature loss in cans, (although you should always pour to a glass, if you're a true beer snob). The environmental impact is a button for many people out there, too, apparently. You talk about light damage and "oxygen contamination." I concede that bottle can let light in, but only if improperly shipped and stored. The carbonation point, however, is downright false. Bottle conditioning fixes many problems that can-advocates seem to think plague their glassy nemesis. Even without conditioning, bottles have no discernible drop in quality due to "oxygen contamination." Quite frankly, if you're holding on to your beer for years, you're doing it wrong.

re: the taste issue with cans - the poorer the beer, the most aluminium you'll get, based on my experience. Plenty of canned beer here. Tennents is Scotland's largest brewer, and the canned stuff has a real taste of metal in it. Funnily enough, it's also usually rated as the poorest quality.

Also, yes, the Scots shall drink anything.

So will we Norwegians. We also eat stuff that should, by all medical explanations, kill you. : \

Personally, I can't taste any major difference in most canned beers. I chalk it up to the beers that come in cans, (that I've had), being shit quality to begin with. That isn't to say good canned beers don't exist, just that I've never run across one yet.

Personally, the best beer I've ever had came in a growler.

Kettlehouse cans their beers so that they can be drank in places that don't allow glass (e.g. rivers while you fish).

side note: I hate Missoula (the town where Kettlehouse is brewed) but Kettlehouse is quite easily the best brewery in the state of Montana.
