I was expecting some sort of spectator shenanigans at a basketball game. However I did get the spectator shenanigans part right.

Mavericks is scary. Used to live in Santa Cruz and when those waves kick up you get the hell out. Besides just how huge and powerful they look, also keep in mind the water temp is around 55 F. 

I bet this is all green screened in which case, I enjoy this video much less than if it was actually shot on location.

Wtf is Mevericks?

Mavericks is an area in northern California, near Half Moon Bay, that has gigantic waves, and very cold temperatures.

World famous surfing spot, for most to watch, and only a very few to actually surf it.

Great video, by the way. 

I remember reading the story about this wave, and it was blantily obvious that over half of the people who were 'injured' were trying to get some type of lawsuit over this.

reminds me of all those people (now dead) standing around on the beach in Indonesia going, "wow, thems some big waves!"

Mavericks is one of the few (Maybe the only? I know the Wedge gets big, but that's a different story alltogether.) serious big wave surf spots in California. It's one of those spots that most people that surf their entire lives don't even think about surfing. It's big, it's mean and it has killed some damned good surfers.
I'm pretty sure I'll never paddle out at Mavericks...
