Shake Shack burger is awesome. Definitely second best burger I've ever had, so this recipe is useful as hell. If any of you find yourself in the DC area, make sure to try the Palena burger at Palena in Cleveland Park. I've got an outstanding wager with any of my friends that I'll refund their airfare/trainfare if the Palena burger isn't the best they've ever had. 5 friends have taken me up, and I've yet to pay out.

In-N-Out is a great place if you're in California or a neighboring state

Also, mixing cheese and barbecue sauce into hamburger meat = AMAZING

back in my old hometown there's this burger place that's been using the same flattop since Jesus so all the burgers got all the delicious seasoning from a well used grill.

^ That looks disgusting. This coming from a guy that used to melt mozzarella sticks down and reconstitute them into patties... for some reason.

I've been to two five guys burger restaurants (there are two within 30 minutes of me). I'll never understand why people swear by the burgers at fiveguys so much. Their burgers are way too greasy. Good to have on occasion but not great, their fries are kickass tho.

Now........ in-and-out burger on the other hand.... I am convinced that there is nothing closer to perfection (for a fast food place) when it comes to burgers than this place.

Oooooor you can live in California your entire life and have their "secret" menu memorized and still find it boring. Seriously, it's just another fast food place. Although I suppose it can seem interesting and new if you're not from around here. "HOLY SHIT A BURGER WITH LETTUCE INSTEAD OF A BUN?! THAT'S AMAZING!!!"

To be honest, I'm not sure what would make a hamburger more exciting? pieces of flair? if a well made burger is boring, you could always go to fuddruckers with some dice to randomize it up.
