Chemical reactions are part of our daily lives. From cooking in the kitchen, to driving a car, these reactions are commonplace. This list is aimed at some of the more exotic and amazing reactions that most of us have not seen or experienced.

Potassium Chlorate is a compound containing potassium, chlorine and oxygen. It is often used as a disinfectant and in fireworks and explosives. When potassium chlorate is heated to melting point, any item added to it will cause a rapid disintegration in the form of an explosion (as we see in the video above). The gas coming off the potassium chlorate is oxygen. Because of this, it is often used in airplanes, space stations, and submarines as a source for oxygen. A fire on the space station Mir was attributed to this substance.
How hard is it to produce the oxygen and what kind of disinfectants would have the solution? That's amazing stuff!
why does Potassium Chlorate hate teddy bears?

You can easily duplicate the Briggs-Rauscher Reaction by alternately consuming cheap beer and Purple Motherfuckers. If you consume enough, and then when the bar closes go eat a Grandslam breakfast at Denny's, you can also tweak the viscosity.
As another alternative, you can drink the beer and the Purple Motherfuckers; find a chick willing to take it in the pooper. After you empty the boys, PIHB.
Instant swirly milkshake.
What? I'm just sayin'...
Sodium acetate is also used as a preservative, and also gives salt and vinegar chips their distinctive taste.
check out # 6. my poo gets has the same distinctive consistency after eating salt and vinegar chips.
"sulfur hexaflouride" doesn't sound like the kind of thing I'd be willing to breathe in.

Adding something cold to thermite doesn't cancel it out...it just makes it angry...and you wouldn't like thermite when it's angry

Unfortunately they use explosives and not alkali metals in that video, but the result would have been fairly similar.
Thermit(e), or aluminium powder with iron oxide (rust) is a bit of a bugger to light straight away, for a quicker bang, use magnesium and copper oxide (further apart in the reactivity series).
