Simpsons The Movie

Here's the movie trailer that has been shown during previews for Ice Age 2, and debuted on TV last night. Looks like the movie will drop in 2007.

I like how I have to watch a a movie trailer before they'll let me watch a movie trailer.

they think they're watching entertaining television, but they're really watching... a commercial.

This probably would have been an acceptable idea ten years ago before they exhausted their possibilities. Now, it just seems like a last-minute Lucas-style attempt at relevance.

I think this will either make it or break it for The Simpsons.
If the movie bombs (aside from fanboys) the show could suffer. But FOX has already signed on for two (I think) more seasons.

IMDB says it comes out in 2008, so it probably will be like a grand finale for the series. Many writers from past seasons agreed to take a part in the movie, so It probably won't suck as much as everyone thinks it will.

Yes.

? Maybe.. that family guy movie was questionable.. this trailer is terrible, I'm sure it will suck but everyone (including me) will of course still watch it nonetheless.

as much as i love the simpsons, i can't watch it any more. the writing is horrible, and the jokes just aren't funny. i would have preferred if they just cancelled the show when it still had some dignity and the writing was still awesome.

don't get me wrong, i do love the simpsons. i used to watch it religously every week, with exception. but it's no good anymore. this movie is most likely going to bomb, and be just as bad as the current crop of episodes, sadly. c'mon. prove me wrong simpsons. show me there's still some humor left in you. i'll be waiting.

Yeah, Simpsons haven't been funny in over 5 years. The final straw for me was the boy band episode. It's pretty sad when you can watch an entire episode and not laugh a single time. I've tuned in every year or so since then and I still haven't laughed.

It's done people, let it go.

They said a while ago that if they ended the show, they would most likely do it with a movie.

Simpsons haters rejoice, but I'm sad to see it go.

also the movie is going to have almost all the past reocurring characters with the exceptions of a few (probably the ones that died) also i think the writers are going to bring there A game, not just write jokes to fill a 22 minute time slot.

All you haters of The Simpsons that love south park/family guy/futurama/American Dad (I love them all btw) can thank the Simpsons for paving the way and making cartoon sitcoms the norm.

The show has changed tv in a major way.. show some freakin respect.

no family guy didn't work... at all..multiple years. it wasn't till family guy was picked up by adult swim after fox canceled it and was the highest rated show on cartoon network (and most other networks for late night programs, beat leno, conan, letterman, and all the other terrible shows on late night) the dvds became alot more popular when people could start watching it on a regular basis on the cartoon network. i doubt that if cartoon network didnt pick it back up that family guy would even still be around... in all fairness fox did cancel it for like 3-4 years.................

The Simpsons circa 1995-1997 was most likely the greatest show ever. Season 6 and 7 in particular are amazing. So much of what is considered funny in cartoons today is exactly what was funny 10 years ago but redone, and not as well. I am reminded of "High Fidelity" when Jack Black asks "Rob, top five musical crimes perpetuated by Stevie Wonder in the '80s and '90s. Go. Sub-question: is it in fact unfair to criticize a formerly great artist for his latter day sins, is it better to burn out or fade away?"

It's funny how in one episode, they crack on Family Guy and call the FG/American Dad combo "plagiarists" and "plagiarists of plagiarists," but nowadays, if you watch new episodes, all they do is reference pop culture icons and names...like Family Guy does constantly.

The Simpsons have completely lost it and it's no surprise that a movie's coming out.

Amadeus is right. They jumped the shark when they finally realized that people are acutally watching Family Guy.
