there's a show on the sundance channel called Iconoclasts. The episode featuring Eddie Vedder and Liard Hamilton has them seeing a full circle rainbow while flying around in a helicopter in Hawaii. Good stuff

Just high school physics everybody. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Impressive high school physics/math program if you performed frequency-dependent refraction/reflection calculus back then.
There was even a double-rainbow there, visible on the left part. If you look closely, you can see the order of colors are reversed. Technically, that's the 3rd scattering peak, but the 2nd is sun-side and is usually swamped by the normal light.

Yeah, look up the IB (International Baccalaureate http://www.ibo.org) program. I went to a POS high school, but at least it had that going for it.
Yeah all rainbows are full circles and all rainbows are double rainbows you just don't always see the second one
there was one like this in my city some weeeks ago, around the sun, it was fun.

Someone out there wasted a lot of their company's time mastering Minesweeper. This video shows the "expert" mode defeated in 38 seconds.

While it doesn't explain the frozen tidal waves we saw a few weeks ago, it's still kind of strange. It looks like the waves are slowly trying to push through the ice, causing it to slowly build up on the shore.

I imagine rollerblading through an abandoned water park is a lot of fun, but, you know, wouldn't this be a good chance to invest in a helmet?

If the robotic arm controlled by a Wii looked exciting, and you trust scary robots, I suppose you can let one swing you around the room and hope it doesn't decide to test your impact resistance.

"We took an industrial robot, strapped a tennis racket and a sword to it, and put it under the control of a WiiMote. We ran very light pattern recognition on the WiiMote, so it would copy our sword swings."
It's like a nightmare.

I'm not sure if anybody cut off all their hair before this wedding, but the entire wedding party did a good job of reenacting "Thriller" at the reception.
