there's a show on the sundance channel called Iconoclasts. The episode featuring Eddie Vedder and Liard Hamilton has them seeing a full circle rainbow while flying around in a helicopter in Hawaii. Good stuff

Impressive high school physics/math program if you performed frequency-dependent refraction/reflection calculus back then.

There was even a double-rainbow there, visible on the left part. If you look closely, you can see the order of colors are reversed. Technically, that's the 3rd scattering peak, but the 2nd is sun-side and is usually swamped by the normal light.

Yeah, look up the IB (International Baccalaureate http://www.ibo.org) program. I went to a POS high school, but at least it had that going for it.

While it doesn't explain the frozen tidal waves we saw a few weeks ago, it's still kind of strange. It looks like the waves are slowly trying to push through the ice, causing it to slowly build up on the shore.

If the robotic arm controlled by a Wii looked exciting, and you trust scary robots, I suppose you can let one swing you around the room and hope it doesn't decide to test your impact resistance.

"We took an industrial robot, strapped a tennis racket and a sword to it, and put it under the control of a WiiMote. We ran very light pattern recognition on the WiiMote, so it would copy our sword swings."

It's like a nightmare.
