Frank Zappa on Crossfire
Frank Zappa appeared on Crossfire in 1986 to speak about censorship of rock music. He did a marvelous job of making his point and shooting everybody down.

Robert Novak is STILL ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those old fucks are STILL the same age? WOW!
I swear, I wanted to shove a Q-Tipa little too far into the ear canal of that John guy...he wouldn't let Frank speak at all.
^Q-Tip, for that matter
Zappa owned. Muffin man!
Incest was invented in the mid 60's! NICE!
I was shocked that pundits in the 1980s were even less elegant than they are today. Having watched quite a few episodes of the now-defunct Crossfire, I never once heard anyone call someone an "idiot" or ask a question as loaded as "Do you think Benjamin Franklin wanted to promote incest, pooeyface?!?!?!" It's a shock that cable news is now LESS depraved.
Zappa was one of the coolest, most sincerely talented SOBs in rock history - no doubt. Plus, he gets major points for just being a cool dad. For Dweezles birthday he had Eddie Van Halen knock on the front door - in full classic gear - and jam with him... That's a fucking cool dad...
Dear Frank...I love you and I wish you were still here.
the host gets physically ill from looking at extremely hot women in teddy's... wow. im so glad we moved on from the pointless-morals era to A.S.S-thongs renaissance
puh-howned. not only does that little turdburglar have a bad haircut, but he's a wank to boot. Frank was and always will be one of the most brilliant artists and thinkers of the 20th century.
Also, dear John Lofton...I hate you and if you're alive then you should be found, and locked in a dark room with headphones duct taped to your head that blast Zappa 24/7.
He and Dee Snyder rocked the pmrc congress hearings as well, very erudite arguments
That was awesome. They were expecting to rip him to shreds but, OMG! the filthy lyrics rocker dude is...intelligent! Hahahahaaaa.
You were a great guy, Frank. We miss you lots.

I always thought Frank Zappa was just a druged out rocker from the 60s.
I have a much, MUCH greater respect for the man now.

Ahhh... learn something new everyday. Even on Fazed.
Damn, these guys must have shit bricks when N.W.A. first came on the scene a few years later.
Yikes.
Yikes.
check out his other debates ive seen him do much better job. that lofton guy wants to control your children. Its the same thing going on now with the radio censors, WHO WHO WHO gets to decide whats "bad"? Im all for free speech and also for keeping it from the kids, while rock music is sometimes terrible for kids. We should vote to keep parents attention before pulling some 1984 crap over our heads. no one especially nonelected shnobs should ONLY debating this. and BabaBooey to y'all/
my god, frank zappa is my new hero
Those old guys are absurdly obtuse.
The purpose of our government is to secure liberties and provide for the public defense, not to protect us from hearing the more (arbitrarily) "socially-unacceptable" words, phrases, and ideas.
Zappa's music was certianly ahead of his time, but his political outlook was 20 years ahead, and dead on.

No shit, did you hear what he said about theocracy due to the Reagan adminitration?
This was in 1986, wow... spot on.
And the old guys responded like "you can't be serious Frank!"
Suck it, old guys.
i love it when you froth like that
check out his other debates
Does anyone have a link?
He ducked more questions than Clinton.
It's always a good idea to answer a question with a question when you're asked a tough one.

Not once did old "Zappster" lose his rag. If that had been me i'd have elbow swiped that patronising cunt lofton and send him squealing home with broken bins (spectacles in UK)
Die - Loften

I am assuming it's the same guy (Lofton). Doesn't look like he has changed much in his views. Simple minded fools never seem to though..

Lofton has a SWEET haircut.
lofton is the biggest douchebag i have ever seen
Frank Zappa, Yngwie Malmsteen... that is Rock n Roll...
Frank has always been razor sharp. Hero.
John Lofton is one of those "god, family, republic" dinosaurs and squirrel could have put him back in his box.
LOFTON: You're an idiot.
ZAPPA: Kiss my ass.
Aside from this little exchange it was pretty dull.

I love frank zappa
When you can shut a bitch up by answering their point with "so" - you're the fucking man.
go zap man
It amazed me that Zappa could keep his cool amidst so much bullshit. He even dropped some scary prophecy: Facist theocracy for the future.
He was the most mature, on message, on target guy during the whole segment.
It's downright Colbert worthy.

"Morality in terms of behavior, not theology."
Bless you, Mr. Zappa.
Bless you, Mr. Zappa.
Way ahead of his time... I mean, basically the same show now, Jon Stewart went on and did the same thing.
This show, could have been and still could be a great help. In reality it is all about who gets the last word. I hate people. No one listens, or even cares about anything other than what is on ones mind.
errr... sorry, ignore me.

Could this be the fourth state of matter? I dunno, but if the buzzing and interference with the camera are any indication, you don't want to try this at home.
