So we will see if this will work or not.
I have no clue on how to code or anything. Just want that known. But i was looking for a little side project, and maybe a collaborative effort to all those on fazed.
would anyone be interested in joining on this?
please note, this could crash and burn very quickly, or it could be a cool little app for those of us with Android phones. and who knows, maybe iphone next.
With that being said. What would this app do. i was thinking of having it read the forum easier. for one. my browser scrunches up on my screen. or a custom Fazed RSS reader. i don't know.
Just spit balling here.

You don't like the fazed mobile site?
Don't get me wrong, I would appreciate an app as much as the next guy but the mobile page works for me with no problems, well one, whenever someone PM's me, it goes to the default fazed site instead of a mobile version of it.

mobile fazed?
Oh wait, this might be solely for the iPhone:
http://www.fazed.org/i/
Check and see how that registers for you

that .... is cool.... did not know about that. but still... i might still try my hand at the Android App
...do people still use phones without html browsers?!?
my phone loads fazed forum just fine

Well, if you do it on an iphone, you have to zoom because it loads full pages. I like the mobile web site because it condenses it and no zooming is needed.

mine gets all pushed together, reguardless of browser.
DAMNIT RJ I told you about the i site in another thread!
Too bad so sad bobby, I get credit.
http://www.fazed.net/forum/view/?id=29126&p=234#L11660
I did note however, it may be "cool" to have it running in the background for alerts for PMs or when i make a new thread :D

well I have a pre, which has the same resolution as the iphone, and the i site works great for me.
no where in there did you mention about the mobile site... but. thanks
the i site should work good on the android.
I just wish the i site had an option to inline images

it works absolutely terrible on my phone and it sucks so bad I can barely even stand it. I have a stupid Samsung Instinct. I hate fazed on it.
Even the i page is bad SNC?

Yep. It's slightly better than regular fazed, but still bad. When S1 first did it, it worked great, but after about a week it was all wonky. He said he didn't change anything, but something happened to make it all funky. It is really ugly and not nearly as functional as it is on the iPhone.
Oh, that blows. Is it open source, like does S1 trust anyone with the development of it or is it just his baby?

I don't know! I'll ask him.
big diff between the instint and andorid though.
Android is supposed to have even a higher resolution then all current smartphones, so it should still work well

There's plenty of RSS feeds and junk that the slorum spits out,
so something could be done about it,
but trying to build an "App" seems like a lesson in foolishness.
Good luck!

I'd love a fazed app on my G1. :-)
I have no issues viewing fazed on my phone.
I go on it during class when I am bored. :)

I guess if there was serious interest, I could create an API using SOAP or something. That would create a fairly standard interface for writing interactive apps.
there is interest....
I need an iPhone... or something....
spun, any way of making an image inline option on the i site?
Sup spun, I'm Stoney. Nice to meet ya!

This'd probably be the last major update you'd have to do to the site,
as people could start cranking out their own stuff henceforth.
I still think it'd be cool to have enough data feeds to be able to whip up some sweet Flash data visualizations.
what he said....
/no clue but sounds cool...

i think it would be awesome.
i don't mind bringing it up on the browser itself, but being able to say that i have 'an app for that'
yeah, i'm all about it.
adam, if you do it.. i'll love you forever.

rather than an app, wouldn't it be better just to make the mobile site more compatible?
Why make applications when we have web browsers? I just checked out the mobile site from an ipod touch, and it's pretty interesting.

Any sort of "App" is pretty much going to be some sort of web browser interface,
unless you're doing something particularly novel with the data,
which would require Spun to set up an API as he mentioned above.
People just like throwing around the world "App" these days.

CH, let's go get some apps later
Yeah I think the original idea here was more of a viewer type thing.

O_O HOLY CRAP YES!
As posted in the FAZED 6.1.3 thread -- the /i instance displays perfectly on the DROID, imo
