Have to drop in late to this thread to. Edmonton, Montreal, Toronto, but now I'm south of the 49th.
Homesick for good hockey coverage and poppies right now.
On the upside, Hip tickets can be purchased the day of the show....

So where on the list would you consider yourself so we can add.
You don't want to wear a Poppy? [No.] But you have to wear a Poppy. [I have to?] Yes. [See, that's why I don't want to.] But everyone wears the Poppy. You must wear the Poppy! [You know what you are? You're a ribbon bully. (walks away)] Hey you! Come back here! Come back here and put this on!

I had a poppy and lost it already. I guess I'll have to dump some change and get another
They should also get some young hot military guys to sell them. I'd be buying 50 poppies a day.
When the majority of the military is rockin' that horrible mustache, it's hard to find any of them hot.

God damn hippies
NO ONE MAY HAVE FUN WE MUST PROTEST THIS
So where on the list would you consider yourself so we can add.
I have to nominate a new category for the list: Canucks abroad.
I live in NYC.
Vancouver is going to be a shitstorm of protests once the Olympics begins. The government hasn't even begun to solve the rampant homelessness issues that plague the downtown Eastside, and it's looking more and more like that the plan is to just swoop in, round up the homeless folk and ship them to Surrey for a few weeks. There are far to many ultra left-wing loonies in this town for them to sit idly by and let the Olympics go off without a hitch. This incident in Victoria is just the start!
Yeah but every Olympics has wacky hippie protestors, and somehow they always manage to make it work.
There was some kind of Vancouver anarchist festival in the summer. Almost guaranteed that they were planning all the shit that they are going to fuck up during the olympics. The thing that I hate about anarchists is that their only real ideology in this case is "woo, let's fuck shit up," they have no real moral opposition to the games or anything. I hope the festival was 50% RCMP plainclothes.
they're using the power of rock and roll to change the world!

I love it when people in Vancouter (typo, decided to keep it like that) bitch about the bus system. They've never fucking left the city, but they're always all "omg i waited 17 minutes for this bus, fuck the transit here is liek the worst in teh world!!11!1"
heh. Buses come once an hour here.
I bet you even have the transfers where the bus driver tears off a sheet of paper at an angle... dun dun dunnnnnn
he, we did until about 5-10 years ago!
Sad part is, we're a city of 140,000, with a student population adding another 50K full time students 8 months of the year.
I rode the bus out of necessity for a couple years. If it ever becomes a necessity again, I think I'll just move next door to work. It'd be easier to sell the house than transfer twice and be on the bus for two hours a day - all to go ten miles.

We tried several times to use Vancouver transit a couple of years ago when we were there but it seemed that any schedule was just there for show. For example, one weekday around 3 pm we trying to go from the VAG to Cambie and W12th. After waiting for the bus for a period that the sign said 2 buses were supposed to have come by (at least 30 minutes), we started walking the route. A bus finally passed us at Cambie and 10th.
Only poor experience I've had with a big city public transit system and we've recently ridden TO, Ottawa, Minneapolis, and DC, plus home (WPG).

EDMONTON GATHERING
The Druid is currently the front runner for the gathering place for an Edmonton get together. It would be on the weekend to accommodate Illusory coming in from 'just outside' the city.
1. Who's coming?
DomJudex
Illusory
2. Any other suggestions as to a place to go or is the Druid acceptable to y'all?

The Druid is fine by me. We talking about the one on Jasper Ave or Southside?
A seven year old boy from Toronto was at the centre of a courtroom drama in an Ontario Superior Courthouse this morning when he challenged a court ruling over who should have legal custody over him.
The boy had a history of being beaten repeatedly by both parents and the judge had previously awarded custody to the boy's aunt. The boy confirmed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and refused to live there. When the judge then suggested that he be placed with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they beat him more severely than anyone.
The judge, in an unprecedented ruling, dramatically allowed the boy, in spite of his youth and obvious inexperience, to make his own choice as to who should have legal guardianship over him.
In front of a packed and cheering courtroom this morning, custody was subsequently granted to the Toronto Maple Leafs as the boy stated his firm belief that they are, in point of fact, not capable of beating anyone.

Dom, I can come in any weekend :P I just chose that one.
I didn't know there was a Druid on the southside now. I only know the one downtown.

I was just speaking generically, I figured once we had an idea of who was interested we'd nail down what weekend. I had no idea there was a southside Druid either, can't seem to find an address for it either.
Scratch that. God bless Google Maps - Druid South 2940 Calgary Trail NW

Jasper Ave one is probably best seeing as it's the most central location.
If Edmonton wasn't such a pain in the ass to get around in, I'd go...
If Edmonton wasn't aboot 870 kilometres away from here, I'd go, eh?

That's pretty funny.
Why does the drummer have a British accent? Is that not Neil Peart.
Question mark?
Because I live "just outside" Edmonton (gimme a break, already!) and I intend on drinking copious amounts of alcohol at the pub night, I'll probably get a hotel room or something.
going back home to montreal in dec. I hope the snow isn't bad and the airport isn't crazy
