I did play Resistance in a co-op mode with my friend and it was fun regardless.. But other than that, I too will stick to my PC for shooters. I just have to get it upgraded if I intend to get Crysis. 

I used to hate every console shooter, but after playing rainbow 6 vegas for pc and ps3, I actually enjoyed it on PS3 a lot more. Shooters now tend to have a lot more features that need binding, and I feel like on a PC anything other than WASD and the mouse can get really clunky. COD4 on PS3 feels totally natural, as does rainbow 6. Resistance was a little awkward at first but I got used to it. I'm really thinking about getting Haze and Uncharted, but I'll probably rent them. 

I apologize for getting into this old topic again, but I'd like to understand how the console controller could be better than mouse... What do you mean by 'binding'? I guess in the console versions of certain games one can for example hit the targets more accurately, but that is only possible if the game auto aims or cheats in some other way.

Anyway, have you guys seen the BBC's documentary "Planet Earth"? I just got it in Blu-Ray and it's *magnificent*! PS3 ftw!

I dont understand why PSP doesnt support a mouse for FPS's... you'd imideatly get a load of PC guys on-side with that. FPS's need mouse support, end of. 

Once the next Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, God of War, Final Fantasy or Metal Gear is out I will probably buy one, until then it doesn't seem worth it. 

Anyone network their PS3 with their PC/Mac? I hooked mine up using Nero Media Home and have access to all my music, movies, and pictures. It transcodes everything on the fly so the PS3 can view it. Only files it won't play are Quicktime MOVs. There's another program out there called TVersity which I have yet to try. Mostly because it's in beta but I've read some good things about it.

This is the Media Server option in case anyone was curious about it. 

What do you mean by 'binding'?

I mean like binding G to throw grenade, F flashlight, R reload. Then tehres like 100 other possibilities like specail weapons, secondary fire secondary grenade, sprint, climb, roll, prone, poke your head out, take cover on a wall... Most new shooters have some kind of special ability element to them, and on a PC when you have to remember 20 keys it can get annoying. I'm really starting to get used to console shooters.

i've been pissed the last 2 days because my COD4 progress won't save. It's like a huge community-wide issue and the inifinity ward forums are going nuts. I'm still playing for fun but damn I just had a 14 kill streak.... got an air strike and a chopper, and my air strike killed so many people i got another air strike... then another chopper. I was 38/11 and the next closest person was like 11 kills. And it didn't save.... :(

thats lame. im having issues importing GTA: SA save. and by issues- its just not reading it in game, but the system says its in the virtual 8mb slot 1.

my next being GRAW I and II.
so you can see why playing an advanced warfighter game made by the guys who made COD would interest me.

Well I installed TVersity tonight and it's decent. The load times are slightly faster than Nero Media Home which is nice and I was able to play a good amount of MOVs that I wasn't able to before. Everything else performs the same. My only complaint is that it uses a LOT of resources. TVersity itself uses between 15 to 35mb for me when minimized, which is perfectly fine. But its MediaServer process uses stupid memory at 70mb or more. That's a bit higher than necessary I think as Nero uses about 1/3rd of that. Overall it's not a bad app. I imagine the higher memory usage probably contributes to the faster loading time. And it's in beta still so I'm hoping they'll fix the leak in future versions. Minimizing it to just the tray would be a nice option as well. 

I actually just decided to go ahead and get a 160 gb hdd for 85 bucks from newegg. You can backup all your data on the 60gb in the console and just pop in the new drive and import the old data. Then I can just move all my music and movies over to the new hard drive. Its practically begging to be upgraded when its this easy.

i ended up fixing the save file error. i guess it just didnt copy correctly the first time, it works fine now.
i found a $10 off coupon to best buy for ps3 games- so i think ill be getting COD4 after i drop off my term paper this afternoon.

Games... I've Warhawk, which is great... Before I say any more, let me point out that MANY GAMES YOU DOWNLOAD CAN BE DOWNLOADED TO 3 OR 5 OTHER PS3s FOR FREE. You can share your user name and password to download the games onto other PS3s (not including WarHawk).

I've beaten Ratchet and Clank twicer. It is fucking great. I've beaten Heavenly Sword. If you like God of War, GET HEAVENLY SWORD NOW.

A friend of mine says Folklore is great, and he says Uncharted is a must have, just like the demo, but maybe even better.

Right on, that's the way to do it. I've got a larger HD on my wishlist as well, probably pick it up after the holiday season. My media collection is way to big though to port everything over to the PS3, which is why I like the network option. I'm a dnload whore so the larger HD will be for game material.

No it already is, but only for audio. But it's nice to show ppl clips and pictures when they come over. Chances are we're already sitting down on the couch anyways so if I want to show them stuff on the fly I can just use the PS3 as the medium. And it's amusing to see ppl's reactions when they see their face on a 56" screen.

I'm doing it so I can download a bunch of demos and movies and not have to worry about space, and also so I can have my music in my living room without pluggin in the laptop. Also, its really cheap and I can't think of anything else I want for Christmas.

I used the PS3 browser for the last 2 days since my laptop was out of comission, and I noticed an outstanding thing: It works well. I was able to surf with minor to non-existant problems with the performance of the web interface.

I own a 360 as well. Why would anyone by a 360 after using a PS3?
I must admit, I bought my first 360 on launch. It broke. of course.

I have both the 360 and the PS3... game wise, I still like the 360 overall, I think it has better titles. But I love resistance and have been playing a lot of my ps2 games since I picked up my ps3.

Good time to do it, especially with the 40gb model being at ~$400. That's frickin cheap for a Blu-Ray player.

No good platformers, no gran turismo (but theyve got forza) no metal gear and literally no rpgs. Thats why I bought my ps3. 

360 has Mass Effect. Best RPG ever made.

I second all of those choices. Though I'd rent Heavenly Sword. As awesome as the game is, it's short and doesn't take long to beat. But the cinematics are awesome. Ratchet and Clank is like playing a Pixar movie. Seriously. 

Thirded: Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted. Rent or borrow Heavenly Sword. The cinematics in
Heavenly Sword are great. Question though: did anyone else have significant screen tearing while panning around in the game and framerate drops in the cutscenes?

DiRT has gotten rave reviews and the demo I played is great.

DiRT is good if you you like super realistic single player racing campaigns. The multiplayer is all basically a time trial. It takes a while to learn a track and get a good time, but the graphics and controls are unreal and its pretty rewarding.

I haven't tried changing my UI but after looking at those sites I'm trying to find a good one. I can't wait for my new HD to come...

Also, I wanted to ask you guys if you knew which online game mode in COD4 gives you the most exp overall? or are they about the same? I'm 37 and I really just want to hang at 55 for a while and enjoy my guns before I go prestige.

i changed my icons to a theme called sfere
i changed my background to a picture i vectorized a while back when that "vector-magic" program was around. it made the quality of the fishnet wrapped breasts so good that i would consider the picture classy.

Oh yeah, I also recommend SKATE. I've been playing it a lot more lately and it's a ton of fun, really challenging but fun. And some of the clips and pics that other ppl upload are hilarious!

FYI - Pirates 3 came out on Blu-Ray yesterday..
