it's like the devil's version of a wine taster. I can see death itself walking amogst the corpses going "Good velocity and penetration. just a shame about the poor terminal ballistics"

A British tourist has been shot dead in a bar in the United States.
Thomas Reeve, 28, was killed when a man entered the bar in Amarillo, Texas, and opened fire, before robbing the venue and customers, says a local report.
A 48-year-old man was shot in the hand and a woman sexually assaulted, says the report. A 25-year-old man has been arrested by police, it adds.

Sounds like he pulled out the jammy aimed it at the sky. Yelled, "Stick 'em up!" and let two fly.
After that display, I imagine that hands went up and people hit the floor, then he wasted Tom Reeve, who ran for the door.
Upon killing Mr. Reeve, he probably declared, "I'm Tex D. and I get respect. Your cash and your jewelry is what I expect."
Tex D. grabbed the money, and then snatched the gold. Then he grabbed a girly's tits and a beer that's cold.

Follow up to the "I'm too fat to be a murderer" trial:

Fla. Man Convicted in "Fat Defense" Trial
(AP) A jury convicted a Florida man Friday of murdering his former son-in-law, rejecting the man's defense that he was too fat to have run up and down a flight of stairs to commit the crime and make a quick getaway.
Edward Ates looked down and shook his head in court as he was found guilty of murder and weapons counts for killing Paul Duncsak, who was shot six times at his home in Ramsey, about 25 miles northwest of New York.
...
Prosecutors contended Ates drove from Florida to New Jersey, climbed a staircase and shot the 40-year-old Duncsak, a pharmaceutical executive who was embroiled in a bitter custody dispute with Ates' daughter after their divorce.
Ates then drove 21 hours to his mother's house in Louisiana, prosecutors said. The last evidence the jurors reviewed in court on Friday was videotaped testimony from Ates' sister in which she admitted that she lied to authorities about when he arrived in Louisiana, per his request.
Prosecutors presented evidence at trial to show Ates bought books detailing how to build a gun silencer, did Internet searches on how to pick locks and how to commit the perfect murder.
Ates, meanwhile, testified at the trial that he often needed to take breaks while driving, implying that he wasn't capable of making the drive to Louisiana.
In addition, Ates' doctor testified that bounding up the stairs, as the killer was thought to have done, would have caused Ates to become short of breath and shake, making it difficult to keep his wrist straight enough to accurately fire a gun at someone from a distance.
Duncsak's mother, Sophia, has said Ates became vengeful toward her son after Paul Duncsak refused to give Ates money to keep Ates' struggling golf course in Okeechobee, Fla., afloat.

Report: Administration Web Site May Have Broken Laws
A nonpartisan congressional research group is backing up a Republican senator's claim that the U.S Health and Human Services Department (HHS) could potentially be inappropriately culling support for President Obama's health care agenda.
The department may have violated laws relating to federal spending on propaganda or lobbying campaigns by hosting its "State Your Support" health care Web site, according to the Congressional Research Service. The CRS gave its legal opinion on the matter at the behest of Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa).
The "State Your Support" page provides a form letter to Mr. Obama for citizens to submit, after adding their name and personal information.
"By signing this statement we affirm our commitment to work with you and our Congressional leaders to enact legislation this year which provides affordable, high quality coverage for all Americans," the letter says.
...
In its analysis (PDF), however, the CRS wrote, "It would appear to be a legitimate inquiry as to whether the department is expending federal funds for such 'informational' or 'educational' purposes, or rather expending funds to expressly urge the public to engage in a letter writing campaign involving an electronic submission of a form letter to a government official (sometimes referred to as 'astroturf' lobbying, that is, an artificially stimulated letter writing campaigns) urging the adoption of a particular public policy in legislation this year."

All 15-year-olds must receive at least one year of sex and relationship lessons, Ed Balls, the Schools Secretary, said yesterday.

No way.
is humor to cut the nervousness or are you guys 13 yr olds?
no, we're just soulless assholes.
Under the new laws, to be enforced in 2011, schools will teach about the importance of marriage, civil partnerships and stable relationships in family life, as well as how to have sex.
Uh,
I think they've got that part down pretty good. Maybe they should teach how to not get pregnant instead.
im guessing protections is going to be a major part of it.
Like how to use a rape whistle?
yes
Those whose religious or moral values prevent them from attending will be classed as truants and may be punished by the school.
Wow.
I've had it with coddling the religious nuts. They can fucking suck it up like the rest of us and sit through the lame presentation. First they make them put all that shit about marriage and stable relationships in it, and then they don't want to attend. Fuck 'em.
I love that the hate directed at "religious nuts" is always most vicious served those who preach tolerance.
Maybe they could do book reports on the kama sutra or something.
You know, an alternative lesson. Like kids whose moral values prevent them from dissecting frogs.

If I had to put my finger on it,
I'd have to say that the hate you're referring to of those who "preach tolerance"
is generally directed towards intolerant people,
rather than some other arbitrary religious distinction.
A distinction worth mentioning, I think.
I'm no Bible thumper, but some Atheists are so strident about their position that its like a religion they are proselytizing.
Bill Maher comes to mind. Every show has a 5 minute anti-religion sermon. Just as annoying as watching TBN.

I'm only sharing this to get it off my chest. Late last night my wife said she smelled something like plastic burning outside, so I went around to close up the windows. I went outside for a smoke when I was done and noticed a little smoke coming from my neighbor's house. It had just caught fire one year ago, so I strolled down the street to check it out. The man is in his forties, lives by himself, and has late stage cancer. He's known as an alcoholic and heavy drug user. His last fire was from smoking in bed, but his house was salvaged.
When I got down there he fell out of his front door and yelled for help. There was just a faint glow behind him, so I yelled hang on, and grabbed my house phone to call 911. I ran back to him with the phone, but it was too far away from my house so it kept breaking up. The fire was still very contained, so I told him to sit tight, come out by the road, and I'd be back in seconds. I ran back and gave the phone to my wife to finish the call, grabbed my 19 year old stepson, and started running back. On the way, there were two HUGE explosions. The guy had crawled about ten feet away from his doorway, but was collapsed for the most part. I convinced my reluctant son (I was scared shitless, too. Believe me) to come with me to grab him, and we started carrying him away. When we got to the end of his short driveway, a third explosion went off. The shockwave moved my hair and actually knocked my son down. I don't remember the volume of it as much as the shockwave, but other neighbors a few blocks away this morning said it shook their windows. Anyway, we got him to a safe distance just about when the EMT's and firestuds arrived. The large explosions were apparently oxygen tanks and a propane tank. I also later found out that what we thought were fireworks going off in the house, were actually a stockpile of ammo. He had a collection of high caliber rifles, and a ton of shells.
I woke up late this morning and went out for a smoke (in my boxers), and my other neighbor was walking towards me with some jerk in a suit. He was from the local news and wanted an interview. I got dressed and obliged him, making sure to bring my 3 year old daughter to get her on TV.
This reporter was throwing around the word hero a lot, and I was thinking - there is no way in hell I would have gone over there if someone else was there to help. There was just no one else around. I was scared to death of the explosions, and feel stupid and careless now knowing about the ammo shells going off. One of the oxygen canisters blew out of the house and imbedded itself in the lawn out front. I almost feel guilty now because all the other neighbors are glorifying it, but it was not an unselfish act. My son and I were just scared and instinct ran the show. Now I almost don't even want to watch the TV interview, except to see my daughter.
The man is in the hospital in an induced coma with severe burns to his throat and left side of his body. His dog burnt up in the house :(
Don't smoke in bed people. Especially if you have oxygen tanks and are prone to passing out.

When we got the guy carried to my other neighbor's yard, he was outside and said, "Um. Pull his pajamas up."
I looked down and he was hanging out for the world to enjoy. I lol'd later. Poor dude.
