It'd probably be infuriating to a lot of hardcore fundamentalists, but for a "normal" Christian, you'd probably have to keep playing dumb for a while before it got them really infuriated.

if someone is christian enough to wear a cross around their neck they probably would turn the other cheek to a question like that.. or maybe just assume that the person asking was just being a dick and actually didn't know what it was.. either way i don't think they'd be infuriated.

Just because someone makes a conspicuous display of her faith doesn't mean she closely follows all of the tenets of her faith.

in my experience, anyone who wears a cross and someone asks a stupid question about it, they immediately get offended by it.

If you want to infuriate them, try to begin a discussion about the cross being a pre-christian symbol, a T, and that it is much more likely that Jesus was hung on a simple upright pole and not a cross.

I think it's a fair assumption to say that if you took a group of people who decide to make a conspicuous display of a particular faith and compared them to a group of people who do not decide to make such a display, you would find a significant difference in the level to which they follow the tenants of said faith.
Anyway, I don't the person would necessarily be infuriated. I think it's actually less likely than not.
