i would love for someone to find me some episodes of the VERY short-lived Saturday Morning Cartoon called "Turbo Teen". It's about a kid who, when he eats something hot, turns into a red crime-fighting sports car.

You'd also enjoy the episode of Futurama where Bender turns into a Werecar. The transformation scene is eerily reminiscent of that kid/car show (which I have seen)

My oldest son wants a skateboard for xmas, since he's doing great in school, so going against my better judgement (risk of injury) I'm gonna get him one. Any ideas where I can get a decent one, something that holds up, looks cool to a 7 year old and is safe, if there is such a thing. I don't want a walmart one, something better but not Tony Hawk either...

There's basically gonna be crap boards (walmart)
and there's good boards.

A good, new set-up's gonna be at least $100. You can get it at any skate shop.

but 7 years old huh? Shit. I fucked my shit up when I was in high school on a board...

I'd be a little concerned about this present. He will get hurt. Plus skateboarding is a LOT harder than anyone thinks and he may get frsutrated with it and never use it again.

yeah, he's young but of course he will wear the full compliment of safety equipment, although that's no guarantee. We've discussed that it is hard and that it take a lot of practice. He understands and seems willing to put in the time. We have some nice, flat streets in my neighborhood and I think he has reasonable expectation that for now, he'll be using it to JUST go up and down those streets, no Tony Hawk stuff :)

Well if he's ok with wearing a helmet and pads... and you're ok wtih spending like $120...

I suggest wrist guards. I fell on my wrists a lot and now they suck.

So just go in a shop and ask for a complete deck. I STRONGLY suggest a Zero deck (the wood part haha). For the rest... doesn't really matter, just say it's for a 7 year old and get the basic parts, they'll put it together for ya.

Ransome: How about a good download of the old lucasarts game "Indiana Hones and The Fate of Atlantis"? I've been keeping an eye out for years but have never come across one.

yay, another fan! every time i mention the "old lucas arts adventure games" to anyone they give me a blank stare and assume the game sucks. this link is a bittorrent file download for ALL the old SCUMM games playable on the current version of SCUMMVM. thats SCUMM virtual machine, it lets you play those games on any computer, they even have ports to like the DS and the PSP and shit. anyway, http://www.btmon.com/Games/PC/ScummVM_Games_Collection_v2006-04-16.torrent.html
ps it took my laptop like 3 days to download it, if you just want fate of atlantis, pm me and i can email it to you or something.

to say nothing of the legality of all this, i think abandonware is OK. I know for a fact that some companies never abandon copyrights, most of the non-lucasarts scumm games are still under copyright. but im sure that won't stop an enterprising young man such as yourself now will it? *wink*

This may be an impossible challenge. I'm looking for a specific Christmas compilation album in the unending sea of random Christmas compilation albums. It has great sentimental value, and it would be a nice Christmas surprise for my wife if I could replace our lost copy. The problem is I only had a homemade cassette copy of this thing 15 years ago, and I have no idea what the album title is, or any of the various artists. However, I remember what most of the songs are, and what order they appear in.

If I can find a music site that would allow an advanced search like "albums where track one is blah", or "albums that include these 5 song titles", I think I could find it. Anyone know of a really flexible music searching site?

I've tried cdnow, cdbaby, cduniverse, allmusic, amazon, and others. It's an unusual search, and I haven't found a site that has the weird options I'm looking for. And of course, the songs are standard Christmas carols, so I get thousands of google hits on any combination of song titles.

I haven't found a music search site that will allow for multiple song title searches. Let me know if you know of one. A plain google search on the song titles returns far too many hits to be useful.

BUt you don't remember the album, artists, label... nothing?

Unfortunately, I never knew any of that info, since we only had an unlabeled knockoff copy of the album to begin with. And it was a "various artists" compilation, so it's a needle in a haystack.

1. Sleigh Ride (instrumental, Boston Pops kind of feel)
2. O Holy Night (sounds like a tenor performing)
3. The Holly and the Ivy (symphonic, Aaron Copeland-y Americana arrangement)
4. Silver Bells (m/f duet, the dude sounds like Robert Goulet)
5. Adeste Fideles
6. O Tannenbaum (not Nat King Cole, but another male singer)

There are another half dozen or so, but the titles and order get hazy after that point.
