Yeah, I mean why not take away all the advantages of a rifle round? Good idea!
If it came down to it, I'd rather have a .308win and a .40s&w. I've got the most bang for my buck there with all the versatility I need to do pretty much anything.

talking about for military use? if so, amen, although 6.8 is an adequate substitute for .308.
No, for general use, survival, z-day.
ah. I stand by my previous statement for that as well.
one of my classes has spent some considerable time figuring out what they best situation would be to defend oneself from the zombie hordes. I think that acquiring a Bradley Fighting Vehicle would be ideal.
Of course, I live next to an Army base....

The problem with those vehicles is fuel consumption/ammo consumption.
I'd rather have an suv that gets better gas mileage and some easy to do mods over a guzzler of a military vehicle.

So what's the newest and best .50 cal BMG rifle out these days? Since I live in this asshole of a state South Carolina, I figured I might buy my self a little trinket before heading up to New York.
You can go wrong with a Barret.

Point taken, and I agree- but it's still pretty handy to be able to go out in the field with a box of ammo and be able to shoot it out of either a handgun or rifle- as long as the limitations of each are known. The terminal ballistics of the rifle load aren't what you would get out of a dedicated round like the 30-06, 308, 300 winmag ect.....but you still have the ability to reach out and touch something at 200 yards with a pistol round.

more than made up for by fuel capacity. plus, corpses could jam up the suspension of a normal vehicle or just block a path entirely. not so with a tracked vehicle. plus, a 25mm chain gun to clear the path (with a slow rate of fire to save ammo).
how slow?
Yeah, but once that ammo is gone, how easily do you think you'll find more?
Not likely unless your willing to travel around from military base to military base.

I live right next door to Ft. Riley. Id been fine staying in this general area.
I think it shoots about 400rpm. There's also a M240U for smaller jobs, and a couple TOW Dragons for really, really big ones.
I'd prefer a Stryker to a Bradley, personally.
Though I think a Leclerc MBT would be best just due to its 360* Galix grenade launcher system.

meh. Id still prefer treads to wheels for crushin' zombies.
a FRENCH tank?!?!? come on, come ON! the Abrams really does suck down too much fuel, but there are so many other perfectly good tanks out there...

In this issue of Internet Commando Monthly, we discuss the merits of ninja stars versus bowie knives!
Don't you mean Mall Ninja Monthly?
I'm sorry, but it's actually Mall Ninja Quarterly.
This month's issue discusses the merits of duct-taping trauma plates to your car's roof to protect against helicopter assault.

Does anyone have the link to mall ninja?
I remember that 'guy'....
Gecko45 is great.
I seriously cant even read some of it because my forehead is so sore from slapping it.
Holy Paranoid Delusions, Batman!
I like to think of Gecko45 as the greatest gun forum troll that ever lived. The alternatives greatly disturb my worldview.
I agree. Especially when it's all put together like that.
He could be a pathological liar with delusions of grandeur... or Paul Blart
Last month I bought a Taurus 24/7 Pro ds.
When I bought it I bought an extra mag so I would have two spare mags to carry.
This mag has all of the markings from Taurus, but the plastic part the round actually sits on is shapped differently than the two mags that came with the pistol.
Is this a typical thing when buying mags from Taurus?

Yes and no.
The older taurus mags are different than the newer ones.
I had that issue with my 24/7, the mag I bought afterwards was slightly different but functioned fine.
The markings from Taurus will have the model of the pistol on it also, make sure it's the right mag.

It is the right mag, but this one is crap. It miss feeds every three or four rounds
Call Taurus and they'll swap it for you.
They did it for me when my mag spring broke.

here's also a M240U
uh wat? you mean the B?
I believe there is a 240B, with the pistol grip, and the 240G with the butterfly. Amiright?
In other news, I finished building my home defense shotgun tonight. I'll take some pics and post them after the kids go to bed. It's pretty bad ass IMHO.

I'd love to have an m1a.
My gunsmith was a sniper in the army and has an m1a he set up just like his rifle he carried in vietnam.
I want one like that.

Also, what brand forend is that on your 870 and how do you like it?
It's a Mako. I just put it on today. I'll shoot with it this weekend and let you know. So far it seems solid, and a good buy. Plus I have the 26" barrel for the gun, and the make is made so that I don't have to switch out foreends to go dove hunting, just take the light and gangster grip off.
I never rook my 12ga birding. I still use my youth 870 20ga.
Unless your talking turkey, then it's my Lanber o/u 12ga.

Well all my guns are what you see in the pic. The Browning sucks for anything other than deer or turkey less than 50 yards. So, the 870 is a dual purpose weapon. It could actually fulfill all the roles I need if I had the right chokes. The Browning is pretty much a designated brushy area deer gun.
called Taurus today. They are gonna switch out the mag. I gotta go and buy a new one first so I have two spare mags on my hip....
Can you hunt with a semi-auto rifle down there?

Their customer service really is top notch. Them mag I got with the crap spring was used, I bought it at a gun show for 13 bucks or something.
When the spring crapped out, I took the mag apart, the inside of the mag was filthy. I didn't even clean it before I sent it back to taurus and they just shipped me out a new one.
The guy I spoke to was very nice and helpful. I am very glad I purchased a Taurus
M1As make me so hard. Porn indeed. That is the gun of my dreams.
Quick question:
I am considering getting an M-4 (in the next year or so). I can't built my own with my lack of skills. So what I am wondering -- are there any brands to stay away from?

Nice, we can only used manually operated firearms to hunt here in PA.

Theres 240B, 240C, 240G, 240U. The C and U are designed to work with solenoids for external use on armored vehicles, etc...
C yes, U... uh never heard of it.

just read that Wiki. Was told the thing about the 240U by a sergeant who could have been wrong, although he turned out to be right about most firearms (he recommended the Browning Hi-Power, for example, which I now consider to be one of my children).
