I DLed the Halo:Waypoint thing just to see what it was, and SURPRISE! Free Avatar awards! I was wondering how long before we'd actually see them popping up.

It's a pretty nice little Halo add-on, as well, so long as you've played more than one halo title on the 360.

Bummer. Mine does, but I have a 27 inch standard def, so yeah.

My monitor has 2 HDMI inputs, but it's too far away and it's only 23 inch... so it's actually a step down on size. Kinda.

wut.

RCA (R/Y/W) is standard def
Component (Y/Pb/Pr) is high definition, and the specific resolution is set through the xbox

Either of those still require the audio cables to be plugged in as well.
HDMI is the only option that carries both audio and video in the same cable, with a single connection.

my concern now, is this idea of having to have the xbox wired to the internet. i mean, i dont really want to pay for a wireless card for it, so im trying to figure out if there is any way to wire it to my router. problem is, the router is in my room, the tv is downstairs. just doesnt seem convenient. I'll play around with the idea, but yeah, that 90 dollar deal for the headset/live/60gb hard drive seems nice. might be ok with the arcade, so thats still only 190ish bucks.

so... what games MUST i have? i know the library is huge, anything stand out (i'll smack the first person who says halo, i know about it, enlighten me with something else)

i couldn't play RE5
like, literally.
buddy of mine rented it.
we played through the tutorial part of the game, where we learned the buttons, and we walk out some door to find a swarm of zombies. we've each got 6 bullets.
died about 10 times trying various strategies (just try to run past them...umm...ok...melee them! no? umm...),
turned it off.

Assassin's creed was the most overrated game since ...well...it's really fucking overrated.
the game was fun for 20 minutes and then painfully redundant. combat was mindlessly button-mashing-oriented. beautiful terrible game.

Are you talking about the part on the first level after you jump out a window?

Even the game says the best thing to do there is turn and run. JUMP GYPSY, JUMP! On subsequent playthroughs, it's a mere trifle, as you have much better weapons and plenty of ammo.

I'd argue that only those too dumb to know how to try and be stealthier and not just a button masher would find it boring. I loved the game and found new challenges with each level so to speak.

yep.
it's my stupidity that makes it annoying that there's 4 "mission" types in the whole game, and they're all identical. if only i were smarter, i would enjoy doing the same 4 things over and over dozens of times.

The bosses were the only really enjoyable part of the game after you got sick of the 4 mission types.

Assassin's Creed was fun until I got to the third level
and it was like "do the same thing you did for the last
two levels" and I was like okay and did it and it was
like hey congrats now do it again until the end of the
game and I was like yeah no thanks.

I enjoyed Assassin's Creed and Saints Row/Saints Row 2.

I hated RE5. The controls suck. No matter which button layout you choose, you have to push two buttons to attack. Why can't they use the right trigger for attack like everyone else? I didn't want to totally retrain my meager controller skillz for just one game. I have enough trouble keeping track of which button is "jump" in different games.

A lot of games have it where you can use two buttons to attack. Sure it's required on RE5, but it's not that big of a deal. Don't think of it as having to use two buttons to attack at all, think of it as fine aim... with no option for regular aim.

Fallout 3 belongs on that list, this is true. I use fine aim on it as well, though it's not required, haha.
