I agree that there are a lot of guys that have no business on two wheels are going out and buying big hogs and are muddying our world, but you should'nt always assume someone is doing that. I know you can usually tell because the guy is wearing dockers and a polo shirt or something. I know almost everyone would think my dad is some damn yuppie that just bought his bike. The truth is my dad bought his first Harley in 1960 when he was 14 and in 8th grade, he had Harely's from then on and way more. He was riding when it wasnt cool. I wonder how many other guys this is true for?

I'm totally cool with rich guys on bikes. Like I said, I'm not cool with the "bike storage guys".

You know the type, exactly like was already mentioned: "I'll ride my bike to Starbucks, but FUCK man, 60 mile ride? That's a little far for me..."

Everyone has different motivations, just like every other aspect of life.
They're still buying bikes and providing the bike companies with capital to improve what they have.
I love you guys, I really do, I don't have any sinister agenda behind my postings, honest.

i give the wave to all riders. we all have two wheels and some of us three. why? we aren't cagers.

there is a feeling that motorcycles give that i have yet to experience in a car. sure, my bmw glides around the corners but it isn't quite the same.

/can't wait to ride again.

no such thing as too fast. only "too fast" for the situation.

doing 138mph to work? not fast enough. changing lanes at that speed is very different.

Some young fella here at work asked me why I ride a Harley.

In classic bravado (silly me), I tried explaining to him that Harley Davidson's are a different breed of bike...

"So what kind of bike are you looking for?"
"I dunno a Honda maybe."
"Why not a Harley?"
"Old man's bike."
"Do you like scoring pussy?"
"Don't all guys?"

You couldn't have written a better script for Hollyweird. As this young buck and I are talkin' here comes my niece Vicki. I was gonna give her a ride to her place.....

"Nice bike. Can I have a ride?"
"Sure. Hop on."
"Thanks. Your place or mine....?"

This kid went right out and bought a Sportster....:D

the only time I enjoyed mine was the first week I had it. I hated it every day after that. Then Yamaha f'ed me in the ass when I sold it back to them.

Honestly? Whatever brand floats your boat as long as it's not underpowered.

I have to assume since you said "upgrading" and "750" together you think yours is a little underpowered?

Yeah - not bad for a first bike, but it's lacking in the engine power department. Bought it for $2500 a year ago, can sell it now for $3500ish

Whoa....Y HALO THAR HUMA!

Can I ask your opinion on somethin? 95 sportster, 1200 kit, jetted carbs, stock frame.

I want to chopper it, my back won't allow me to go rigid. I've heard "front fork kit" and "rolling chasis" in equal amounts, but from non-builders.

As a builder, what would you suggest for me?

Get an 1100 or up, all I can suggest. If you want a full-on cruiser, I hear you'll want an 1800 or so.

It's totally irrational, but I really want a Kawasaki W650.

Ideally I'd like a real vintage Brit bike, but I've got a nagging worry that parts & maintenance would take a lot of the fun out of it.

The W650 might be a poseur bike with its wannbe retro look, but I've always loved the style of those classic bikes.

Depends what you want to do, on a stock sportster frame I think chopper fork kits look silly, since the frame is not stretched you have a stubby body, and then loooooong forks. Depends what kind of look you are going for. I prefer ridgids, but you can get stretched frames that are made for swing arms and suspension that look pretty good. I started with a 94 sporty and chopped it, kept only the engine and a few misc parts... wish I could post a pic here, but my web link is down. At any rate i'd email a pic to you if you wanted. If you really budget it you can swap over everything from your stock bike to the new frame... but keep in mind depending on your tins you may get a more old school chopper look, unless you get the stretched tank to match. Anyways I am also a vtwin and a pipedreamz dealer and I can beat almost any prices in my town anyways. Feel free to drop a line for photos.

Quite comfy actually, you're not quite in a race rep position, and your back is straight.
Once you get it up to about 50mph the wind takes the weight off your wrists and it gets fun.
The only problem was, even with the full power kit, you didn't want to drop too much speed off or it was like a (noisy) slug,
you had to run it in the powerband to get moving again.
