Yuppies on Hogs, now this pisses me off...
I know I should never wish bad luck on any rider, but I smile to myself whenever I see a Yuppie spilled. I always think to myself "Maybe he'll be to afraid to ride anymore..."
I know I should never wish bad luck on any rider...
You're right.
Wish them a flat, or a blown fuse....;)
I am also planning on purchasing a Yamaha V-Star Classic 650.
Don't know why I just noticed this.
DO NOT GET A 650, DUDE!!!
You're WAY more person than I am, and I HATED my Shadow Classic 750 because it was way too underpowered. Get at LEAST an 1100. Trust me and everyone else on this, PLEASE.

Ever since Harleys went mainstream every yuppie in the country bought one...and lets it sit and collect dust.
It was more fun when we were all outlaws :/
I have a friend from Milwaukee (well actually quite a few of em). I was down there for the 100th anniversary. There were a lot of yuppie riders. I realised at that point Harley is just a name associated with a product and its become a status symbol. Fuck that I want something I can ride.
I'm a 'boomer
It's the "let's adopt something cool and make it as safe and generic as possible" thingthat pisses me off. I don't care if a guy with a good job who lives in the suburbs likes hogs, that's cool. I just can't stand when they try so hard to adopt the image. They get the leather vest, the engineer boots, the Sturgis t-shirt, and they pull their thinning hair into a 2-inch ponytail. They spend thousands on this image. Of course, there's not a speck of dust on anything, because they only ride around the neighborhood.
/end rant
Of course, having said all that- there is one current Harley I really admire...

make no mistake about it, Harleys are for riding, I have over 42,000 miles on mine.

They are for riding but around here they are more for show... More of a "fuck you, I don't feel like driving my 7 series beemer or my lexus today, I will ride my bike to the starfucks."
I have done a test ride on a Victory Las Vegas. very very nice. the bike has a lot of soul
Used to own on of these.
It was the fastest production bike at the time. It still has a lot of power but its not as quick as the crotch rockets nowadays. It is a great mix of cruiser and brute power. Still by far my favourite.
Sold it to my brother so I still get to ride it now and then.

Werd. I've got an 1100 Sabre, and I think it's underpowered.
If you're going to go with a Jap bike, get a warrior or a vtx 1300.
Especially coming off a fizzer.
Anyone know anything about the Suzuki M50 Black? I love the look of the thing, and the price is right...

I just bought my first bike!
A 1986 Yamaha Radian 600cc.
Only has 11k miles. It needs a new front tire before I can take it out though.

I still have a honda cbr 600cc with a giant fucking scrape all along one side and horribly damaged handlebars...
hey I'm not the only person the bike's tried to kill either, which is a small part of why I've never fixed it... I think it might be haunted...
that and I'm not buying another $900 riding suit...

650 is a total waste of money and you'll hate yourself every day you ride it.

Why don't you just call me 20 names to prove your point?
Why is human nature to divide and categorise and pigeonhole?
They ride, you ride, but they're "yuppies".
No one ever thinks that they're a "yuppie" as well.

I mean my opinion doesn't matter keep thinking what you're thinking accept no dissenting opinions, etc, etc.
I've only ever ridden a dirtbike, but it's certainly fun.

My local harley/buell place has an XB12s demo model and I'm having a really hard time not going down there and taking it off their hands.

How's this for you, Mr Troll:
I don't like the bastards who get the bike for the image rather than for riding a piece of history. Don't have to be a Harley for me to hate the "cool factor" riders.
Most people who can afford bikes to just sit around in the garage are rich yuppies, whence came the generalization.
Now. What kind of bike do YOU ride, Rob?
http://www.vjmw.org/yourbike/kawasaki/may26_acyc_G3SSE.jpg
My first bike. I still have it to, sitting out in the shed. The clutch is pretty worn out.

How do you know their motivations?
Oh, I get it, an ad hominem.

I'm done with you Rob. You can continue arguing with yourself. You ain't getting my goat today, least not in this thread. But thanks for coming in just to bitch! YAY!!!
I try, I really try to get people to see that there is always another side of something.
I guess I don't really care who rides, as long as they enjoy it and have a good time. Everyone's gotta start somewhere.

See.
Isn't that the point?
Whoops, sorry for killing the thread guys
You didn't kill it, tito.
Yeah the last one to post in here will geta dollar* so the thread will never die.

No, Rob, you jump into every thread you can and post a bunch of crap designed to stir things up. No one needs your "wisdom"- no one asked, no one wants it. You're an annoyance, and a waste of space that could be taken up by someone with something important to say. For instance, this thread- you don't even ride, yet here you are trying to "enlighten" people. Fuck off already.
I want to go buy a bike now.
I am going to take the class with a friend. Bastard might be getting a bike for free from his future brother in law in law (fiances sisters fiance).

i am not totally sold on the yamaha. i'm open to other suggestions.
i'm looking for a standard/cruiser, about $7-8k, that doesn't have a huge ugly fork. i like the tigher to the body forks. i drove a 95ish shadow and didn't really enjoy it. i also took a 98 shadow 750, up in canada, got lost, got unlost but thought i was pretty cool but still, took some getting use to after riding a sport.
