There've been tons of crappy calls all game. Some for us, some for the Dirty Birds.
AND ATLANTA COVERS!!!!
There is a god for gamblers.
No brainer.
Silly Saints homers who thought they'd cover
Seriously? Most of our fans I talked to agreed the smart thing was not to give the points.

NOs defense is what makes the difference.
In order to cover the 12, ATL would have to score 28*.
Not gonna happen.
*The Saints have averaged 39.67 points per game this season.

Huh. It was more of a game than I thought. Look out Atanta. Here come the Redskins fresh of the bye week.
You didn't factor in the fact it was a game between divisional opponents, they tend to be more of a game a closer.
I guess. I thought Atlanta was a team headed in the wrong direction. I don't know why, they just seemed to have lost their way. Also, I figured the Saints would be fired up after having beat the Giants.
Whatever. They didn't cover the spread. I wasn't on fire about it enough to actually lay a bet.

Saints-Falcons games have been unpredictable as fuck ever since I can remember
You also forgot that it's a football game and anything can happen in any given game.
The Eagles lost to the Raiders then beat the Giants.

yeah, I obviously forgot that.
you both forgot that the Iggles just suck
YOU SUCK FAT ASS
I didn't forget shit
Steelers and Broncos in Denver on MNF next week.
I hope they punish those silly horses for not beating the Ravens.

Yeah. Punish! Very hurtful like.
Please.
Please.
Can they punish their own too? Like Jeff Reed for being a complete douchebag?
Very hurtful like too.
Jeff Reed being a heavy partier is nothing new.
He's in a contract year, so most likely they'll punish him by not renewing his contract.
He's a hell of a kicker though,
and if you're gonna have a guy on your team act like that
better it be your kicker than somebody else.

He can kick at Heinz Field too, so maybe he is valuable.
On the other hand, kickers are kickers.

Janikowski is no ordinary kicker. Too bad his team sucks.
Same goes for Shane Lechler of those same Oakland Raiders, he's the best punter in the NFL and has been for years. Too bad the Raiders suck so much. Maybe he's so good because he gets so much game time work compared to other punters.

You're right. He's overweight. Totally out of the ordinary.
His leg is strong, if that's what you mean, but so is Mason Crosby's. It's not that rare to be able to hit 60+ anymore. Hell, Garrett Hartley hit a 70 yarder when I was in college and it took him half a season to get picked up by the Saints.
I've never seen a 60+. 70? Are you sure?
I should've been more clear. He hit a 70 in warmups before the OU/CU game in Boulder a few years ago when CU upset OU.
Longest FG in NFL history is Jason Elam at 64 I believe. I'm too lazy to look it up.

Tom Dempsey and Jason Elam.
both 63 yards
both 63 yards
There ya go. Thanks, toonz.
That's right, Elam has the longest FG in NFL History, although it was 63 yards and he's tied with Tom Dempsey who had the best advantage as a kicker!.
Didn't some high school kid kick a 90 yarder once in practice
right after he and his girlfriend who had moved to Canada broke up?

Dempsey's was in a dome? no?
I seem to recall that Elam had some wind behind him.

No.
Heck, I don't even find a 63 that impressive. I hit a 50+ multiple times while I was in college.

Only two people have done it in regulation, ever.
You're right, it's not impressive at all.
Where did you play gyro? did you make me money?

Dempsey's was outside also.
He is most widely known for his NFL record 63-yard field goal, kicked in the final two seconds to give the New Orleans Saints a 19–17 win over the Detroit Lions on November 8, 1970. This record still stands as of the end of the 2008 regular season. (In a 2002 pre-season game, Ola Kimrin kicked a 65 yard field goal; as a pre-season game, it is ineligible for the record.) The record has also been officially equaled once, by Jason Elam of the Denver Broncos on October 25, 1998 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Elam kicked his field goal in the thin air of Denver's high altitude Mile High Stadium. Dempsey kicked his at New Orleans' Tulane Stadium which was actually situated below sea level, which implies that the ball was slightly heavier and had heavier air resistance to overcome. He used a straight approach to kick the ball as opposed to the "soccer style" used by nearly all place kickers today.
Dempsey was born without toes on his right foot. He wore a modified shoe with a flattened and enlarged toe surface. This generated controversy about whether such a shoe gave a player an unfair advantage. In 1977, the NFL added a rule, informally known as the "Tom Dempsey Rule," that "any shoe that is worn by a player with an artificial limb on his kicking leg must have a kicking surface that conforms to that of a normal kicking shoe."
Janakowski was the first 1st-round drafted kickier.

I doubt I could get one through the uprights from the goal line.
And Janikowski has the best weed in the league.
Yep, it was the Janikowski draft that really put the Raiders on the road to success.
They did make it to the Super Bowl in 2003. But Al Davis f*cked it up as always.

Nah man, I didn't end up playing. I considered walking on for a while, but I was in college while OU still had Garrett Hartley so it's not like I would've gotten to play. I didn't even realize I had such a strong leg until my freshman or sophomore year of college. Also, I always kick barefoot and I'm not sure they would've let me do that.
spittoon is right, I was practice kicking (though my buddies would simulate a rush on me sometimes), but my kicks all had good height. However, I didn't have a full kick-off run up. I could actually kick the ball farther with a 2 or 3 step approach (two common place-kicking styles) than I could kick-off style. I could stick a 45 yarder halfway up the uprights from anywhere between the hashes almost every time. I got fat and unflexible by my senior year and could only hit between a 40 and a 45.
I could probably walk outside right now and kick a 35 or 40 yarder from a two step approach. Honestly, I still think I could hit a 50 yarder with a couple months of practice, exercise and stretching. In hindsight, I should've had them film me so I had some video evidence to back this up. You guys don't have to believe me, though. I can live with that.
